Plus size in the news
Times Have Changed With Plus Size Fashion
Feb 17th
A few years back, the plus size fashion scenario was very different, and heavier women did not have many options. Things have changed a lot and now it is a great time to buy plus sized clothes as the options available are many. Plus sized clothes are now available in most stores and also on online stores, and this has made shopping for plus sized clothes not only easier but also affordable.
It was a very common thing in the past when women of plus size could not find proper and fashionable clothes to wear to functions and social outings. This was because the options available were limited, as there were no ‘trendy’ clothes that came in plus sizes.
Things have changed now, and there are many online stores that stock and sell clothes of plus sizes and cater to the needs and requirements of different women belonging to different age groups. Women who were heavy in earlier times preferred not to attend social gatherings because they did not have stylish and well fitted clothes. Now they walk into the gatherings wearing plus sized clothes with confidence, and looking absolutely mind-blowing. There are many designers that focus on making clothes for women in plus sizes, thus one is able to get clothes in all styles and cuts.
The variety in clothes and in colours is amazing. One can purchase clothes in vibrant colours as well as darker colours. This gives one the freedom to pick as per the occasion and their preferences. There is no style and garment that is not available in a plus size now. You can get jackets, jeans, skirts, dresses, tops, belts, formals, camisoles, gowns and many other things. You name it, and you can obtain it!
With plus size fashion, big women have got a new lease in life. They are enjoying shopping around, spending money and coming back home with clothes that they are sure will make them look gorgeous. When they know they will look great, their confidence level soars to new heights. They walk into a party with their head held high – and looking ravishing. There was a time in the past when plus size women hated to go shopping, as they knew they would come back depressed because they could not find any clothes in their size – and if they liked something it would not fit them, as it would have been made for girls with model-like figures.
There are stores that only cater to clothes for plus sized women, and this makes it very easy for larger women to shop. As they only keep clothes for heavier women, it is easy for women to look around here and they are likely to get their choice of style and make here. The styles available in plus size are absolutely flattering and trendy. It is a encouraging to see that times have changed, and now women of all sizes are able to get clothes that will make heads turn.

Fashion etailer Asos has launched a funky new plus-size range which has gone live on its site today, Asos Curve.
The own-label range includes dresses, tops, bottoms, outerwear and swimwear in sizes 20-26.
The capsule collection is made up of trend-led pieces adapted from the main range to flatter us curvier girls.
I’m loving this jumpsuit and this floral dress would look great with leggings or jeans as well as on its own.

V Magazine Size issue out 14 Jan 2010
Jan 20th
Visit vmagazine.com to buy the size issue which includes this feature by top photographer Terry Richardson, comparing traditional size model Jacquelyn Jablonski with size 16 model Crystal Renn.

This issue has got the fashion world talking and may have been inspired by British designer Mark Fast’s decision to use plus size models in his catwalk show last September.
Looking at these two pictures above, both girls look amazing and I can’t see why using plus size models is such a big deal.
Certain designers are renowned for being anti-fat, most famously Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld who said it was only ‘fat mummies with their bags of crisps in front of the television’ who criticised skinny models. Hmmm….. Interesting that V’s style issue also includes Mr Lagerfeld’s shots of plus size burlesque model Miss Dirty Martini, looking hot of course! Looks like he has had a change of heart.
Two models died of anorexia last year, and the media backlash against Kate Moss’s comment ‘Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels’ goes to show that the general public are seeing through the supposed glamour of the modelling world. Surely people would rather look at healthy girls with proportions that are more like their own?
And more to the point, size 16 is hardly plus size anyway!
You can buy your size issue now – guess which of these covers has already sold out in the US? Yep it’s the Gabourey Sidibe cover proving that big is not just beautiful but sells magazines – wake up fashion world!!!
